I think this is my first ever beauty related blogpost! Today I thought I would share with you the makeup that I usually wear. This varies day-to-day; some days I will wear a full face whereas some days I might just wear mascara. Sometimes I might not wear any at all! Makeup is not my forté. I’m not your typical beauty blogger – I pretty much have one of each product. However, this makeup ‘look’ (or whatever you want to call it) is VERY simple, basic and cheap.
Here’s yours truly looking very bare-faced. At the moment, my skin is co-operating with me which I’m very glad about! I began using a new face wash and it’s doing wonders to my skin.
If I’m wearing a full face, I will start off with foundation. I couldn’t decide whether to buy a different foundation; in the end, I decided to repurchase my Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hour foundation in the shade ivory. It is definitely long lasting, but I couldn’t tell you whether it lasts 25 hours because I’ve never kept makeup on my face for that long! Using a wet beauty blender dupe, I dab this around my face. I blend it down my neck as well so that there isn’t a noticeable difference in tones.
Then I use my beloved Collection concealer under my eyes, on any parts of my face where there are blemishes that haven’t been covered by my foundation, or on parts which need lightening up. Collection have released lighter, darker, and different colour (such as purple, blue, orange, green, etc) concealers now which I’m so glad about! I’ve been using shade 1 for about 4 years now, but shade 0 is so much better for brightening my face.
I used my trusted Stay Matte powder in transparent to powder my face, so I don’t look shiny!
I usually skip this step if I’m short on time. Today, as I’m not at school, I decided to push the boat out. I bronzed under my jaw line to give my face a bit more shape. Sometimes, I bronze my face up too but I don’t think I need to now because it’s winter! I used the Rimmel Kate Moss Sculpting Palette.
Typical… I forgot to take a picture of my highlight! I used the MUA Undress Your Skin shimmer highlighter. I had this for my 14th birthday (I’m now 17) and it’s still going strong! Perhaps I shouldn’t be using makeup that’s over 3 years old. I go by a general rule of thumb; if it looks alright, doesn’t smell and still works, I’ll keep it. Sometimes I’ll use a liquid highlight but powder is so much easier and fuss-free!
Then I proceed to doing my eyebrows! I’m certainly not an expert in the eyebrow field. I have never had my eyebrows done professionally and I’ve only recently started filling them in! I was getting a bit fed up of my eyebrows so I bought this eyebrow kit in blonde (because I didn’t want it to be too noticeable that I was filling them in!) from Collection, not really feeling very hopeful. However, I have been using it for about 6 months now and I haven’t looked back since. Admittedly, it isn’t the best eyebrow kit in the world, but it does what I need it to do! Then I use the eyebrow gel, which is absolutely disgusting (kinda need to buy a new one) to shape my eyebrows and keep them in place.
Moving onto eyeshadow… Eyeshadow is probably my favourite makeup product! You can be so creative, and it can make such a difference. This is the MUA Burning Embers palette – it’s my absolute fave! Can you believe it only cost me £8???
I swear by this palette as it’s so so pigmented for the price that you pay! I started off using the shade ‘wildfire’ (the one directly in the middle of the palette) and I put this all over my eyelids using my finger (that’s how technical I am haha). I’m not sure whether I’m making this up, but eyeshadow seems to be more pigmented when I apply it with my fingers, and there’s less fallout. Then I used the shade ‘burn’ which is the pink, matte shade. I took this through my crease with a crease brush. I didn’t bring it right the way up to my browbone; I left it so that you could only just about see it when my eyes were open. Finally, I used the shimmery shade ‘sparks’ and put this on the inner third of my eye. I feel like it opens my eyes up more and draws more attention to them.
There are so many looks that you can create with this palette, I’m thinking of doing a blogpost on it!
For mascara, I used another one of my all-time faves – Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. Similar to the foundation situation, I find myself looking for a new mascara but I always seem to end up back with this one. I love it! Unlike other mascaras I’ve used in the past, it doesn’t go clumpy on your lashes, and it curls them for you!
Finally, I used this lipstick (Mac Lipstick – Velvet Teddy) which my best friend got me and I absolutely love it! I pretty much wear it all the time as it’s so easy to apply, and it looks natural.
So this is the finished outcome! Fairly simple for people like me who don’t really know what they’re doing when it comes to makeup…
I hope you enjoyed reading this blogpost! Do you want to see more beauty posts from me? It’s something I definitely want to delve into!
